When the school task is fulfilled, personal creativity is finally required: the selection of beautiful motifs and their placement. A bird in the bushes, houses by the stream, a branch of roses and "faith - love - hope". Gorgeous!

Two years before her sister Lina, Amalie Bartels started her school sampler with a Christian rule of life. "Pray and work" - ora et labora is a monastic motto from the late Middle Ages.

Amalie also embroidered her two big initials like her sister: right and left of her name. Probably those are the parents.

Numerous beautiful letters and many different types of stitches, a few borders and some important household items. Unusually, the name and the year are in the upper section. Presumably, this sampler comes from Saxony.

Little "BK" has blown up the given frame - beyond the selvedge.

The cut piece of stitching ground should be designed according to the instructions: alphabets, series of numbers, borders, name and year. That was only possible just like that. Everything is there and perfectly executed.
