The Lorraine Mootz Collection
We visited Lorraine Mootz in a small room called "Reminiscence" in the historic house of the association KulturTrif(f)t e.V., Trift 32 in Celle, Germany, on May 7, 2022. There she gives an insight into her beautiful collection of needlework samplers.
This room in the historic baroque building Trift 32 with European samplers from the Lorraine Mootz collection is a reminder - a "reminiscence" - of the German Sampler Museum. The Elfi and Hans-Joachim Connemann collection was housed in the Prince Palace in Celle from May 1, 1991 to the end of February 2013. After the museum had closed, the world-famous collection came to the city of Celle. The samplers and the specialized library are now professionally stored in the Bomann Museum depot. The samplers on display in this room come from the private collection of the American Lorraine Mootz. During the 19 years of the Sampler Museum, she gave guided tours and had a significant impact there through her work.
