Sophie 1870

Sophie Hamann's samplers (a darning sampler dated 1872 bears the full name) are privately owned by my friend M. Guerrein. This cross-stitch sampler already contains three different types of stitches. Probably somewhere there is a previous exercise - only with simple cross-stitch on coarse fabric. Often a whitework sampler followed the darning sampler and gifted girls could show their skills at lace samplers.
